I miss Paris so much, but also y’all should check out this work from Kaitlin Rebesco
I’m glad someone tagged this with Philippe Halsman. He is one of my favorite photographers, for a lot of his work, but specifically his ideas behind his `959 book called Jump. I’m sure we’ve all had that teenage jumping picture, Halsman’s portraits display a whole different side to people’s personalities. In a Smithsonian article he was quoted to say, “When you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping and the mask falls so that the real person appears.” Even though he regards his idea of ‘jumpology’ as a joke academic study, if you look at his work, you see his celebrities faces without their masks. It is pure beauty.
Brandon Stanton of Humans of New York gave a TEDx talk at Columbia University about how our perception of the world is being affected by the media’s focus on “good” stories. Here’s our short summary of his points:

These are some photos of a friend, I took for a friend who is an illustration artist at NIU. Some of these were used in a life size collage piece. Her peice was about the sterotypical college life and habbits attained within the first year away at art school.
Swiss artists Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs are known for their clever work that intersects photography and sculpture. In their Camera Collection, they constructed refurbished cameras out of peculiar objects like turtle shells and even armadillos.

PS: The artists made a point of noting that no animals were hurt in the making of the series (whew!)
gospel-stitch asked: ah ok. lol get ready to see that 24/7 <3
haha also, we were talking yesterday about who is getting what rooms in the appartment. Claire said she wanted the little corner room, Jaclyn and I said we wanted the other rooms that were medium sized. This is the conversation that followed…
Me: “I think Molly needs the biggest room.”
Julie: “For all her swag?”
This is a little shoot I did a while ago, when I got a really disgusting bruise on my lip after a long night of a concert with some mosh pits. Feeling generally disgusting I took some photographic evidence of the remembrance of the night.
Alternative Developer: Red Wine
Some of you have tested the development of Black and White Films with instant coffee, called Coffenol. Alternatively, you can also develop the film with red wine. This process is called “Winol”.
This is too crazy, the two things I love in one process. I can’t handle this.
Kevin of The Filme hacked his Rolleiflex TLR to shoot Fujifilm Instax photos. The process requires removal of the camera back and a few adapters, but if you manage to pull it off, the results look amazing.
THIS IS AWESOME. I WANT TO DO THIS.
